Does my Vacuum need a HEPA Filter?
Many people in Los Angeles County and Ventura County own vacuums but may not know what a HEPA filter vacuum is and if their vacuum has one or not. What is a HEPA filter? A HEPA filter is a "high efficiency particulate air" filter. What does that mean? All it means is that it removes allergens, smoke, and dust from the air. All vacuums remove allergens and particles from the air, but a HEPA filter must prevent 99.97% of those particles in order to be a "real" HEPA filter. How do you know if your vacuum has a HEPA filter or not? Most vacuums that have a HEPA filter will advertise it on it's original packaging or on the vacuum itself. Most HEPA filters are removable and can be cleaned with water in between replacements.

If you suffer from allergies or if youd like to breathe cleaner air and plan on purchasing a vacuum soon, do some research. A HEPA filter vacuum is supposed to be better than a regular vacuum filter for people who suffer from allergies and asthma, since it prevents more particles from being released into the air. Some non-HEPA filtered vacuums filter out particles just as well as HEPA filtered vacuums.
